I've never been stoned. I don't smoke. I used to drink, but the cost to feel good, was taken away by paying 25 bucks for a bottle of booze that has $15 in taxes attached to it!

So, back to the marihuana. It's illegal right now. The debate is endless about the stuff. Is it save? What will it do to us? What about or children?? Health experts aren't sure of the ill effects of its use. Be careful who gets their hands on it.

Huh? Really? Why all the big concern about our health with this marihuana plant? THINK ABOUT THIS: The government has all these regulations and CONCERNS about our health for everything. Or do they? I can go to the liquor store and buy enough booze to kill me in two hours and nobody at the liquor store will stop me from my purchase. I can go to the car dealer and buy a vehicle that will do 300 KM/HR when, clearly, there are NO highways in Canada with that speed limit. I could kill me and a half dozen others at the same time! Ridiculous! I can buy tons of cigarettes and smoke em' til I'm dead. I can go to the casino and gamble away every cent I have (or borrow) and ruin my life and become dependant on the government. All THOSE "fun" things are "regulated" by the government. And then they have the nerve to say they're concerned about our health and marihuana?? Get real. Their concerns are about the revenue and that's understandable; they have roads to pave, hospitals to keep running, schools that are filled to capacity AND lets not forget the money they love to lend to their friends that own big corporations. —Avenger Arora

So, when I saw The Coast had a new column called ASK HOLE, I immediately got all excited. Finally, I could have all my personal dilemmas addressed by one of the 90's edgiest alt-rock bands. Instead, people's questions are being answered by some rando who is definitely not Courtney Love, Eric Erlandson and/or Melissa Auf der Maur. False advertising! —Living Through This

Come on, Halifax. The downtown core is a disastrous mess of construction sites and detours. Even beyond the Nova Centre debacle, trying to get down Barrington street now is terrible!! The old Misty Moon site cuts off the main drag, you're constantly crossing sidewalks and taking side streets to get around. I just moved here last summer and the number one complaint I over hear is from tourists trying to navigate the streets:”Is there construction on every street here?” “How many times will we have to cross this street?" and "Where the hell are we now?" are some of the more popular complaints.

While everyone is concerned with tourism dollars this year, I don't see a lot of repeat visitors. Better get that mess on the waterfront done before it gets too nice…I love this city, but we got to stop all this construction right in the middle of the summer...Tourists won't come back to a city they had so much trouble getting around in detours and shit. I am all for the growth of the city…but we've got to do some better planning. That waterfront being closed like that is just money being dumped in the harbour. —Halifax lover

What other governments have undermined collective bargaining? Hmm, do the names Mussolini and Franco sound familiar? I wish they had courses on democracy at community college. —Those who remain ignorant of history are doomed to repeat it

Yes, we're grown-ups now. Many of us are in our 30s. You can't adult today? You're proud because you adulted earlier? Are you capable of an original thought? Are you looking for a pat on the back because you went grocery shopping and bought vegetables? Do you think everyone within ear shot gives a fuck that you paid your bills on time or can't function like a human being without drinking coffee? Ironically, saying that you “adulted” or are “adulting” or that you can't “adult" is the most juvenile, asinine, thing on the planet. Second only to Donald Trump. —This. 100% this. THIS. Summer's sun is almost here, and that's fantastic. I'm looking forward to getting out in the sun and enjoying it to its fullest. But sadly, I can't. As each summer passes and I get older and (hopefully) wiser one issue always rumples my feathers.  And with an election approaching, maybe now is the time to address it. Can someone please, explain why I, as a responsible adult, cannot walk down the hot, sunny street or hang out in a park on a lovely day and enjoy a beer at the same time?  Seriously, why? What's the harm? Now, I'm not talking about pounding down a bucket full and getting all stumble-bummed. I’m talking about enjoying a tasty beverage on a beautiful day.

Is the public at large so precious that they must be shielded from such things?  Are children too soft to witness responsible adults drinking responsibly in public? Are public drunkenness and underage drinking laws not enough? So I'll ask again, what's the harm?  Why treat me, and the vast majority of other reasonable adults of legal drinking age like we're going to cause the downfall of civil society? Is having a legal beer at a picnic on the commons going to inevitably lead to broken glass, broken people and vomit covered streets? Nope. Not in the slightest. So please, I beg you, let's at the very least, start a real discussion. The sunny days are almost here and this is an archaic law that has no relevance in a modern society. —A Responsible Adult

We briefly dated and you turned out to be an inconsiderate, immature, person who only communicates through games. You should know before we actually dated I previously thought of you as my friend and looked up to you as my teacher. If you had acted like less of a fuckboy I would have continued to think of you as my friend and respected you as my coach even if things didn't pan out. However, you were apparently never really my friend, and you're not my coach anymore. You can attempt to make me feel as unwelcome as you fucking like. I'm not quitting. The odds of winning the lottery are less that getting hit by lightning. Every time I have to stand behind you in line while you check 20 tickets and then buy 10 more, I pray for the lightning bolt. —Just want to get on with my day

Sure, start out with minimum wage, but fuck sakes, give those employees who stay dedicated for many years an "adult wage." So many long time hard working employees I know make a little more then minimum wage. Eleven bucks an hour is usually great for the average teenager without children, living at their parents’ house, but paying 11 bucks for five-plus years of dedicated work...FUCK YOU!  Also it seems many employers pay minimum wage and over work their staff. Fuck Nova Scotia needs more quality jobs. —Pay us fairly
