Can some Dartmouth coffee shop please sell coffee in bulk so I don't have to get it in a plastic, non-recyclable bag every time?? I'm sure the downtown Darkside crowd would show up with their Tupperware.

  To the man sitting in his car outside the Superstore in the BLIP last week: I apologized sincerely several times to you after my mini shopping cart bumped into your passenger side door. I expected grumpiness and momentary irritation (understandable) but the moment the cart touched the door, you began screaming at me. I continued to apologize but instead of accepting my regret at this minor mishap, you escalated in volume. Even once you got out of your car and saw that there was zero damage, you continued at high volume.

This is the first (and, I hope) last time a shopping cart has gotten away from me (I am well into middle age). I am thankful for both of our sakes that there was no damage to your vehicle. I am left shaking my head at your level of anger and lack of manners. A simple "It's OK but don't do it again" would have sufficed on your part.

Hey north end beer bar. You're cool, and I like your beer. I stop by fairly regularly to enjoy pints with friends, because your place is pretty chill. You know what isn't cool tho? Your shitty tactics of follow-unfollow on Instagram. You're like the new friend that's trying too hard. Guess what? I already liked you! Summer's sun is almost here, and that's fantastic. I'm looking forward to getting out in the sun and enjoying it to its fullest. But sadly, I can't. As each summer passes and I get older and (hopefully) wiser one issue always rumples my feathers.  And with an election approaching, maybe now is the time to address it. Can someone please, explain why I, as a responsible adult, cannot walk down the hot, sunny street or hang out in a park on a lovely day and enjoy a beer at the same time?  Seriously, why? What's the harm? Now, I'm not talking about pounding down a bucket full and getting all stumble-bummed. I’m talking about enjoying a tasty beverage on a beautiful day.

Is the public at large so precious that they must be shielded from such things?  Are children too soft to witness responsible adults drinking responsibly in public? Are public drunkenness and underage drinking laws not enough? So I'll ask again, what's the harm?  Why treat me, and the vast majority of other reasonable adults of legal drinking age like we're going to cause the downfall of civil society? Is having a legal beer at a picnic on the commons going to inevitably lead to broken glass, broken people and vomit covered streets? Nope. Not in the slightest. So please, I beg you, let's at the very least, start a real discussion. The sunny days are almost here and this is an archaic law that has no relevance in a modern society. —A Responsible Adult

Did I say this before? Someone must have. At some point during the heady last few years that brought an explosion of new beer and slick places to drink everyone collectively forgot what each is worth. Yes, I am bitching about the price of beer. N0, no one is forcing me to go spend that money but, and here's where we can all be selfish, I don't want these places to go under either. If they're charging $8.50/$9.00 or whatever for a pint (or less) then people are going to wake up and start staying away in droves. There's some combination of overestimation and general opportunism running the show during these heady days and it's setting the bar at the bars unsustainably high. Some of the new and funky places are going to start collapsing when the public collectively realizes that they don't have $40 to get a couple of drinks for a themselves and a friend.
