Just wanted to say thanks to the girl who stopped on Thursday afternoon when my car broke down by the mall. I was in a tough jam and you really helped me out. Thanks again. You rock. —Busted Clutch

Halifax's alFresco filmFesto is back baby! While I'm not overly-pleased with the choice of movies, I still vividly remember the good times had last year and definitely plan on supporting this cause. I'm not overly please because the subtle theme last year felt like "nostalgia" movies for parents or new adults that you've perhaps seen before but haven't in years, and are likely previously unseen for any kiddies that go. Charlie and Alice seem too fresh/new...still, I will be attending most regardless.

FYI, my lineup (which as I understand would be based on release date and consideration of a family environment):

1. Cry-Baby (this is EXACTLY the type of movie that should be shown...cheesy, ridiculous comedy all the way)
2. Edward Scissorhands
3. Benny and Joon (classic)
4. What's Eating Gilbert Grape
5. Ed Wood (nice Bill Murray tie in BTW)

Shame Fear and Loathing, Nightmare on Elm Street or Blow couldn't make the list. What can ya do? —zZz Can't Wait

Are you lonesome tonight, do you miss me tonight, are you sorry we drifted apart? Does your memory stray to a bright summer's day, when you kissed me and called me sweetheart? —Nova Scotia Sunshine

Congratulations and thanks for not demolishing the Glebe House. It proves that this kind of preservation of important historic buildings can indeed be done if the will is there, difficult and cost-prohibitive though it is. It is well worth it in terms of maintaining the unique character of our city. Good luck with the rest of the development. —Cycle Mom

A, it was a short fun time, I loved every nanosecond of it; hope someday to make you need a towel again... —D Moon

I spent along time sitting watching life fly by and yes it was boring, not to mention loveless.I would like to make the leap but I'm afraid that by admitting my true feelings for this person I would be shooting myself in the foot. I am very lonely and long to be held. At least now I can imagine myself in a man's arms. Maybe I'm not such a bad person after all. Thank you for the luck. Lord knows I need all of the luck I can get. So far this year's been hell. —Ozzy

To mister tattooed university runner-man: You are the most considerate, chivalrous person I have met in a long time. While everyone else I passed on my way from Barrington Street to Queen Street just watched me in my struggle with a heavy, awkward box of boxes for moving, you actually had the humanity to ask me if I needed help and you carried it all the way up the hill for me! I know I said "thank you" a million times along the way, but really, I appreciate it. You're a hero among Haligonians. —Green Hoodie on the Hill

My vehicle has a gear shift (standard) that is MacGyvered together and slips out of commission sometimes...unfortunately on Friday afternoon at rush hour it happened as I was trying to get onto Joe Howe from some smaller street and I had to glide backwards and onto a small street to get out of the way. Two fellas in a white van got out and helped me. Thanks guys! A few minutes later it happened again about 20 feet onto Joe Howe and a helpful dude with shades and an iPod helped me shove that beast up to an apartment building parking lot on a slight incline. What a pain. Thanks a bunch to you as well. I will be working on a more permanent fix this weekend. —Black Mazda Tribute

To all my cherished regulars, it's been my pleasure to serve you over the last two-and-a-half years. I'm so appreciative of your loyalty and generosity. Our chats and jokes were always such a nice part of my day. I'm sorry I didn't have a chance to say goodbye but I hope to see some of you around the neighbourhood! —Agricola and North Waitress
