You were working the cash the grocery store and I had a few bags' worth of stuff. I joked that I wish I had a car, and we got to talking about how it sucks to carry groceries home. After, as I hobbled across the parking lot toward home, I heard you call after me and turned to see you running after me with my credit card in hand! You tucked it into my pocket and ran back inside so fast I barely had time to say thank you. I probably wouldn't have noticed I'd forgotten it until the next time I needed it, but thanks to you I know to be more careful with it from now on! I hope I can return the favour someday! —Forgetful Pedestrian

I could never have expected you. I still don't entirely know what's happening, but I know that more often than not, I'm happier because of the very fact of you. Wow, I think my hope is back, in a real way. Carly Rae's method works, folks. It just does. —Out-of-Towner

I'm glad I asked what your favourite meal is, seeing your face light up made my dinner choice and made my day. I think it even made the food taste a bit better. Your pasta was sweet, almost as sweet as you seem to be, too bad you couldn't sit down and share it with me. —With My Luck You are Dating the Cook

Hi, I saw you in the audience last Saturday at the 8:30 show and I wanted to talk to you. You are blond, wore a coat and had cream coloured shoes. You walked down the hill to your car parked on Granville Street. I was behind you and I wanted to say "Hi, did you like the show?" but I did not find the words... I regret that I missed that opportunity and I hope you will read this message. I want to invite you for a coffee. —I Wished I Had Another Chance

You're like my dream come true. You cook, you bike, you garden, you camp... is there anything you don't do? You are kind and generous and thoughtful and quiet and I wish that I knew how to relax around you instead of constantly using alcohol to break the ice, which just ends up making me look like an idiot.

I thought I was over you, but then yesterday at Mumford Terminal I saw a guy wearing a plaid jacket loading a bike onto the front of the number one, and my heart stopped. I've never had that happen before. When he turned around, he was missing your signature half-grin and your facial hair (have I mentioned that I think your facial hair is just fine?) and since then, I haven't stopped thinking about you.

I wish so many things were different and that we could maybe have a shot. I'm leaving Halifax soon and who knows where you'll end up, but you have made an impact on my life, and I will always think on you fondly. —Illogical Lover

Oh Coast, you are such a satisfying paper. I look forward to having a casual coffee date with you each week. Its the best. But y'know what would make it ever so much more satisfying. A crossword! Then I could extend the coffee love and help fend of Alzheimers at the same time. Looking forward to more time with you! —Your Biggest Fan

I just wanted to send out lots of love, gratitude, appreciation, respect, and so much more. You are all some of the most amazing women I have ever met. You work on floor that is every parents worst nightmare living on - and you all make life there for your patients and parents so much more bearable. Your smiles, jokes, hugs for the kids (and sometimes for the parents ready to break) the songs of "wheels on the bus" while getting through procedures - you will never understand the true appreciation mothers and fathers have for you all because of the heart and soul you put into your work. From the bottom of my heart - thank you for being 'you' and happy nurses week. —Xo Mama Bear

Try reading W.H. Auden's "Leap Before You Look". It might help. Really. —One Who Knows the Crazy Train and its Final Destination Quite Well

To the dark-haired (trans) woman with the cute outfit and adorable floral purse on the 61 (I think), on Monday: I was sitting across from you and couldn't stop staring--you have a wicked sense of style! —Fellow (cis) Fashionista
