We are old, you and I, at least in the eyes of many today - but not in our hearts, or in the eyes of each other. You ignite my passions today just as much - if not more - than in those far off years when we were both just starting out and exploring one another. And now here we are on the far side of 50 and as hotly active as ever. Thank you for keeping on lighting my fires and making me soar on the thermals you create. I hope it can be as many years again in your arms and in your heart. —Licker Flicker

To the lovely woman on the number one bus on October 17th around 3:30: Thank you so much for handing my phone to the bus driver after it fell out of my pocket and I proceeded to get off the bus. Buying a new phone would not have been an option as I don't have a lot of money. And thank you to the bus driver for turning it in. I am so happy that there are still people out there who will do a good deed. Thank you! —Reunited Phone Man

I have a serious crush on you. You like me too I can see it! I said "I am sorry I act so stupid around you," you smiled, looking me right in the eye and said, "That's okay." If you read this D, and I come into your store... please tell me. —Shy Dark Girl

Dear Honeybee, I would love to see you over the rainbow someday. I know now that twilight is not enough. Waiting in the middle of the night for the dawn simply will not do. I want to be with you in the mid morning sun, when the light plays off of the ocean and water and wind can make a beautiful mist. Someday we will rejoice in the games that the waning ocean has to offer. I miss you. —Double Salt

I left a message on your answering machine Saturday afternoon concerning a situation in the Grand Parade. 3 hours later you called me back, in person, asking for more details. I freely confess to being one of those who sits on his couch, swearing at the widescreen and tarring politicians with the same brush. I have never been so happy to be proven wrong. I may not be a supporter of your party but I'm sorry I don't live in your riding because I would be privileged to have you as my Member of Parliament. Thank you, sir. —No Longer Furious

I was coming down the escalator at the airport today and tears started streaming down my face... knowing you would not be there. I sat where you used to sit for the longest time. I am so sorry to have caused you hurt. I think about you constantly, about our summer, the secret beach, that sly look you can give me from across a table or room that makes me weak, bedtime stories and our untameable passion. If nothing else, please know you are with me everywhere... I miss you so much. —Llama

You were at the bar and said how much you liked the music I chose on the jukebox. Thank you for taking the time to offer a simple, genuine compliment. That made my night. —RH

I’ve been in your shoes and there is a grounds for hating Halifax, especially when it comes to some of the petty bullshit that goes on and the fact that there are some people on power trips here and there. It’s easy to get fed up. But once you leave, visiting the rest of Canada and traveling through Europe, you forget about the petty bullshit, and realize Halifax IS full of friendly faces and some exquisite party people! So, when people talk about Halifax’s charm, friendly nature and party scene, and you wonder what the fuck they’re talking about... just try to really imagine yourself in a big city where people don’t smile as they pass you on the street, you don’t run into friends on a regular basis, and frankly, people just don’t party like Scotians. I agree that it sounds cliche and that shit doesn't matter, but once it's not there, you learn to appreciate it. When you move away from home, you realize exactly why you’re proud to be a Nova Scotian and you realize you’d love to show it off to all the new people you meet. Sending love your way Halifax! —Can't Wait to Move Back Home

To the young woman who took the time to let the Bengal Lancer horse graze on actual growing green grass Saturday AM instead of letting it pine for it from the circle of muck and chew it's frustrations out on the fence - I'm sure s/he loved you for it! I do too! Why can't you all do that?!? —Snubiz Smilin' Atcha!
