To the nice gentleman last Friday: It was my first time working in Halifax, and I was running a bit late. It was crunch time for supper traffic, and nobody was letting me cross. You came up beside me, and with a smile said " Here we go" and walked into the street so that the cars would slow and let me cross. Thank You! Coffee on the house next time you stop by. —Halifax Nube

Mom: You have done so much for me in my life, I can't even begin to thank you. You raised me and my sister sometimes on your own because of a navy father, and yet rarely, if ever, complained. You looked after us, took care of us and provided for us everything we could ever need. As we got older you helped out with school work, then helped getting into university, and your latest act of mom-awesomeness is helping me finally get my own place and moving out. Mom, you are a real life superhero. I can only HOPE that someday I have even a fraction of the strength and kindness you have shown your family and others throughout our lives. I love you. —A Daughter Who Knows She's Lucky

I love the last Friday of every month. This last one in particular 'cause you helped liberate my feet and I've been bare foot since. Well the shoes will have to go on at some point but until then...Thanks for the space in your basket and I'd love to be able to return the favour or at least see your flashing smile again. You made that ride way more fun! —Waterfront Hotspot Guy

I never thought that you were a real, living, feeling human being, but a hazy dream that I could barely remember. But no, you're real, 100%. Everytime I feel as though you were just my imagination, just the person that I would love to love, you show up, I bump into you, you bump into me. And now I think I'm convinced that you aren't a thought, but reality. I hope one day to tell you exactly how I feel, but until that day comes, I'll be waiting to bump into you again! —Gallery Girl with the Bike

YESSSS! I am so glad we talked about "us", drunkenly, but so necessary. I feel infinitely better knowing that we understand each other as well as we do - even if other people misunderstand us all the time. I love you so much, and now you know exactly how, and I'm so excited for the coming year. xo, always. —Great White

On Saturday night, I went out for the first time in a couple months. As the regular DD, I was so excited to get my drink on that I left my keys in my car door for almost 6 hours after that! I remember looking for my keys while considerably smashed - not looking to drive, just to make sure I had them before I left - and promptly freaking out because I figured I had left them somewhere stupid.
Amazingly, the keys were still in my car door, the doors were locked, nothing was taken, and my car hadn't been touched! YOWZA.
Halifax, you are full of the best people, it would have been only too easy to take advantage of a situation like that. Haligonians - YOU ROCK. And have my eternal gratitude. And love. —Little Red Drunk
