This goes out to the over-aged kids who work at the automotive parts place up behind Dartmouth Crossing. The last couple of days I've walked past and seen you guys out in the parking lot playing with your radio-controlled cars before work starts. It really does make my day. Please keep it up. —The Colonel

Loved 'Family Skating Event' at the Oval. A few props to the mascots:

Dal Tiger, your thumbs-up was a friendly standard and your relaxed demeanour was calming in the beehive of the free-hot chocolate-fuelled kids' zone.

Mooseheads' Hal, whatever you are, your avuncular affability made you pleasant enough, and I liked your post-fireworks dance moves along with Dal Tiger.

But Husky, you had the hutzpah. The only mascot on skates and dancing while doing the rounds. Nice. —Sipper on the Sidelines

We met in the fall and our paths have crossed a few times since. You discussed your love of Latin and described yourself as being "drenched in Neo-Platonism." You charmed me to the point where I can't string together coherent sentences when I try to talk to you. Thanks for reminding me that this city is still home to gorgeous, smart and funny women, even if I don't have the slightest clue how to talk to them. If I ever figure out how to talk to you without sounding like a blubbering idiot I would love to buy you dinner or a few cups of coffee. —Awkward But Smitten

I open my eyes and miss you. Everything right and wrong about us, I miss you. The silence makes the six blocks between seem closer and farther. I still want you, but I can't have both and I hope you understand. When given a choice between the best friend I've ever had and self-respect. I choose me. —The Slow Break

You stand by me no matter what is thrown at me. You are the light and the rock of my unstable life. I love you and want to feed you and make you happy and warm. You are so snuggly and I never want to leave your side. Your blue eyes can still take my breath away. I love you so much. I hope that I can give you everything I have to make your life a dream. —Deerface

I should have told you that I loved you. While I knew it wouldn't have kept you from leaving, I can't help but wondering if it would have been enough to make you come back. —Lovelorn in the Maritimes

I know it's dishonest, but I pretty regularly dye my hair red. Now, before you judge me, I was born with red hair... but then it all fell out and grew back blonde. People treat you differently based on your hair colour. Whenever I'm blonde I feel less respected, less funky, less artistic, more stared at. It might all be in my head, but there's something special about being a ginger that I can't get enough of. Or, it might just be this city.

Halifax, you are a city filled with sexy gingers. I mean, I've been to Ireland, but even they ain't got nothing on the sheer number of red-haired people to be found in this city! I appreciate you, whether your mop comes from a bottle like mine, or that elusive recessive gene.

Speaking of... clearly it's a gene I sort of have, so how's about we get together and make sure the ginger species doesn't go extinct. —Gables

I love and miss you all. I cannot wait to get back on the track with all of you and get some hits in. The upcoming season's going to be awesome, I can feel it. —#50 TrachAttack

This girl drives me crazy. She's inspired me in ways I've never known before. She brought hope into my life and it has been the best gift of all. She has the most amazing heart. She doesn't dress slutty for guys; she dresses for herself. She drives a black porsche. She loves getting high. She can't go a day without coffee. She would die twice for her family. She has big dreams. She loves rap music. She's hilarious and she doesn't even try. She's an animal lover. She would give her left arm to end the Canadian seal hunt if she could. She procrastinates but she has ADD. She's brilliant. She always knows the right thing to do. She says she learned everything from her parents. Her closet is filled with designer labels. She's always late but worth the wait. She's not afraid to speak her mind. I hope she never loses sight of what she wants in life because I think she is going to change the world. She's a blessing in disguise. —Secret Admirer

No matter what, I cannot forget you. I fell embarrassed when I have intimate dreams about you because I am married and I think that you are in a wonderful relationship with a beautiful little girl BUT you appear in my head unexpectedly at night even when I am not thinking about anything. When I am having not so hot of a day your silhouette appears in my mind. You are still perfect soo soo macho with your tall body and auburn hair. I know that there is not a chance I ever will meet with you in person even just to be beside you just to touch you. Only in my mind will I ever have you. Do you think that is unfair that before you leave this world that you could not have had a meeting with the one person that you really turned you on in your lifetime. I have a husband but when I reminder our acquaintance three years ago, WHY CANNOT I NOT GET OVER IT AND MOVE ON. Well, I will also remember you in my mind and I WILL NEVER FORGET YOU, YOU ARE MY INTERNAL LOVE. Bye for now and if you know who you are YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL. —MY HARLEY FRIEND
